What's included

One price. Everything in it.

Most campervan rentals in Japan quote a low nightly rate, then add bedding, kitchen gear and a card hold on top. We don't. Here is exactly what comes with every Motion booking — and exactly what costs extra, priced up front.

Included, at no extra cost

  • Basic insurance includedUnlimited third-party liability and property damage, in the nightly rate. Upgrades to Standard or Complete are optional — see the extras below.

  • Unlimited mileageDrive as far as you like. No distance cap, no per-kilometre charge.

  • Second driver freeShare the driving at no charge. Just send both licences with your booking.

  • Bedding for twoFresh sheets, duvet cover and pillows, laundered between every rental.

  • Kitchen kitGas stove, pots and pans, plates, cups, cutlery and a 20L water tank.

  • Camp chairs and tablePacked in every van, ready for the first roadside coffee.

  • ETC toll card and readerNo rental fee for the card. You only settle the tolls you actually used.

  • Cleaning on rentals of 7 nights or moreShorter trips are a flat ¥4,500. Nothing is charged by condition on return.

  • Fridge and dual battery in every vanCold food and charged devices without running the engine.

  • Roadside basics, even without an upgradeSpare tyre fitting and up to 10L of fuel delivery come with every rental. Towing to 150km and recovery costs to ¥150,000 are covered.

Terms, not add-ons

  • No credit-card holdWe don't freeze a deposit against your card. You keep your travel budget available for your trip.

  • Free changes up to 72 hours before pick-upMove your dates for free, or cancel for a full refund less a 4% processing fee. Plans change — flights more so.

  • No minimum rentalBook a single night if that's what your trip needs. Most rentals in Japan start at three to ten.

  • Drivers from 21, no young-driver feeNo surcharge, and no extra restriction for drivers newly licensed.

  • A real bed, not a folded-down seatA 10cm mattress on a fixed frame, full double width in M1, M2 and M3. You never rebuild the bed to cook, or the kitchen to sleep.

  • Built in our own workshopWe design and build our campervans ourselves in Nagano. We know what is behind every panel, so we fix things fast and keep improving the layout trip after trip.

  • Licence translation handledGerman, Swiss, French, Belgian, Monegasque and Taiwanese licences need a JAF translation. We apply on your behalf — just allow two weeks.
